Driver — daily duties

This is what the job looks like every day. Please read it before you apply so you know what we expect.

  1. 1Be on time. Start time is 6:00 to 6:30 a.m., ready to roll — not just arriving.
  2. 2Do the pre-trip walk-around before you leave. Walk the whole truck and confirm it is safe and road ready: tires, lights, mirrors, brakes, body and doors.
  3. 3Check the fluids and fuel every morning — engine oil, water/coolant and diesel. Top off or report it before you pull out.
  4. 4Make sure the driveway and loading area are clear and the truck is good to go before you leave the yard.
  5. 5Load all your equipment and bags for the day — everything you need to do the route, checked before you leave, not at the first stop.
  6. 6Complete 18 to 20, up to 25 stops per day, including the warehouse.
  7. 7Work carefully at all times. Safety first at every stop, on the dock and on the road. No shortcuts.
  8. 8Report on site, at the stop — log every stop in the app while you are there, not at the end of the day.
  9. 9Take pictures at every stop: the bins, the bags and the material you picked up, so each stop is on record.
  10. 10Keep the record complete and accurate for the whole day — every step, every stop documented.

Warehouse Operator — daily and weekly duties

This is what the job looks like every day and every week. Please read it before you apply so you know what we expect.

Every day

  1. 1Be on time and ready to work at the start of your shift.
  2. 2Safety check first: wear your PPE (gloves, safety glasses, vest) and keep exits, extinguishers and electrical panels clear. Report any hazard right away.
  3. 3Check the forklift (fuel/charge, tires, forks, horn, lights, brakes, leaks) and the baler (guards in place, straps and staples feeding, no leaks) before you start.
  4. 4Make 9 bales per day. Every bale is numbered, weighed, written on the board and entered in the app.
  5. 5Check incoming bags for wet or damp clothing and dry it first — never bale wet material.
  6. 6Sort and grade material correctly and stack finished bales by material type, labels facing out, in straight and stable rows.
  7. 7Keep the work area clean: sweep the baling area and keep aisles and walkways clear of loose material and bags.
  8. 8Count plastic straps and staples and report the numbers. Tell the manager when supplies are low.
  9. 9Check cables, wire, pallets and bags so everything is ready for tomorrow.
  10. 10End-of-day cleanup: trash out, pallets stacked, tools put away, equipment shut down and the forklift plugged in or refueled.

Every week

  • Produce 44 to 47 bales per week (Monday to Friday).
  • Help load outbound trailers and truckloads when they are scheduled.
  • Make sure every bale of the week is on the board and in the app with the right number and weight.
  • Report supply needs (straps, staples, wire, pallets, bags) so production never stops.
  • Deep clean the baling area and equipment and report any repair the forklift or baler needs.

How pay works — production based

New Beginnings Recycle is a production-based organization. Pay is based on what you produce, not on the hours you spend on the clock.

  • Warehouse operators: pay is based on the bales you produce — 9 per day, 44 to 47 per week.
  • Drivers: pay is based on the route and stops you complete — 18 to 25 stops per day.
  • The more you produce, with quality and safety, the more you earn.
  • Exact pay details are explained at the interview.
